Because It's All About That Bag

Purse / Same Skirt from Banana, but a different color or here in blackTank / Sunglasses / Bangles

I've always been a bit of a purse and shoe addict. There's something in my personality that has a hard time feeling like there's ever going to be enough of anything and shoes and bags are at the top of that list.

I know, I know. Quality trumps quantity every time, but while I absolutely love the expensive pair of Louboutins I found under the Christmas tree one year, there's something insanely satisfying about finding three pairs of shoes at a sale and getting to come home with all of them because they're so deeply discounted.

With this bag, you don't have to choose between quantity and quality. While it wouldn't exactly be fair to call it a steal, for the quality of the bag and the fact that it can be used as a clutch, a shoulder bag (short chain strap) or crossbody (long leather strap) you really are getting both quality and quantity without breaking the bank.

Pleather For The Win

Pleather used to be a dirty word in my fashion vocabulary. Aside from the pretty unbeatable lime green vintage pleather couch that graced my college apartment, fake leather had no place in my home.

Today, it's a different story. There are so many great "vegan" leather options that won't break the bank. This skirt is just one of them. It's the perfect length, has pockets and is currently 33% off at Nordstrom, which means you can get the look of leather for only $56.28.

If leather is your thing, check out this crossbody bag by Rebecca Minkoff. The floral pumps from Banana Republic are no longer available, but there are lots of options out there at different price points including these, these and these.

Grey, Rainy Day

When I lived in New York, I began each morning by checking the weather on my iPhone (before I even got out of bed). Since moving back to Los Angeles, I'm no longer in the habit, which may have just something to do with 340+ days of sunshine a year. As a result, I was caught off guard by the rain on Saturday. Luckily, I had this hat with me to hide under. It's old, but I found very similar styles here and here.

You really can't beat a well-shaped hat for hiding under - be it from the rain, a bad hair day or simply the world if I have yet to consume the amount of coffee necessary for me to successfully interact with other human beings.

2015 Starts Now

Tall Pink.jpg

It may be January 5th, but in my world, 2015 starts today. The holiday break is over and it's back to business and real life. Schedules and routines replace sleeping in and lazy days; exercise and clean eating replace Downton Abbey binges and grandma's cheesecake.

If I'm being honest, I have to admit that I'm ready for a return to normalcy - at least for today. I'm certain in a week I'll be dreaming of our next vacation.

If you're not quite ready to let go of the holiday season, this sweatshirt has enough sparkle to keep things festive well into January. And these heels? Let's just say that Gwen Stefani knows how to make shoes.

The skirt, sweatshirt and heels are all currently on sale so this outfit won't break the bank after all that holiday gift-giving.

I hope your year is already off to a healthy and happy start. May 2015 be your best one yet!
